Groups

Groups meet at St Ninian's for all sorts of reasons:  to deepen our faith, to build relationships, to discover new talents, and simply to do the things that need to be done!  Dates of meeting are usually advertised in the pew sheet.  Simply come along or contact us at info@stniniansglasgow.org.uk for more information.

Open Discussion Forum

The Open Discussion Forum offers an opportunity to get to know each other better and to think about our faith in light of current events or particular areas of interest.  We usually invite a speaker to begin the conversation.  This group meets on the the third Tuesday of the month at 8.15 pm, except in summer.

In February Brian Baxter gave an illustrated talk on his recent pilgramage to the Holy Land.
Links to the various organisations discussed are listed below. Please remember these organisations in your prayers.

 Mother's Union

The Mother's Union is a world-wide fellowship of women (and a few men!) throughout the Anglican Communion.  The regular meetings offer a time of fellowship and conversation for members and friends.  There is always some sort of charity project on the go. Most of our MU members have served the church faithfully for years, and the group continues to care for many of our older members who value a time to be together and a way to contribute to the wider church. Meetings are held on alternate Wednesdays at 1.45 pm in the church hall, except in summer.

The drama group is a joint venture between St Ninian's and the Renfrew Aranthrue Theatrical Society (RATS).  The group usually works on two productions a year:  a Christmas Pantomime (performed at St Ninian's), a late Spring Play (at the Tramway Theatre),
The next production will be: the pantomime "Babes in the Wood" in St Ninian's Church Hall Wednesday 30 November to Saturday 3 December @ 7.30 p.m. with a matinee performance on the Saturday @ 2.30 p.m.

Church Helpers

There are many hidden groups that generally keep things running.  The Sacristans take care of the altar linen and the brass and silver.  The Servers help at the altar on Sundays -- carrying candles, swinging incense, setting up the church, and generally keeping the clergy sane! There is a Readers Rota and a group of people who help to lead Intercessions.   Flower arrangers work throughout the year and oversee the decoration of the church at all major festivals.  There is a Coffee Rota for people who can help to pour coffee and chat with people on Sundays after the service, and a group of Coffee Morning Helpers, who run a coffee morning each month.   A group of people faithfully prepare and distribute the Magazine each month.  Others help with St Ninian's Kids and our Family Days. several people provide a Fair Trade stall.  Each of these activities provide a chance to get to know people and to offer time and talent to the common life of the church.  Helpers are always welcome!
